Why is that when I defend UMNO or the Malays I am labelled a racist but not when others speak up for Chin Peng? - Tun Mahathir Mohamad
My wife and her students went to Yayasan Perdana yesterday for an audience with Tun Mahathir. The Russian pre-medical students initiated the idea for the visit and was given a positive reply by the Yayasan.
The mostly malay students sang to him in Russian, heard his speech and had a question and answer session. All of them came back teary eyed and aghast with Tun's knowledge, frankness, candour and humour. They came back a believer just like I did when I first met Tun, 15 years ago. I was a blue eyed chemist from Nestle listening to Dato Seri's talk in a symposium. I was a different person from then on.
Now, my wife even asked me to let her read some of Tun's book that I have in my collection.
Before she went, I made her promise to ask Tun to autograph 2 of my books. The Malay Dilemma and The Challenge (which I bought way back in 2001). She told Tun that I was his most ardent admirer and have lots of his books and writings plus my addiction to his blog. He signed The Malay Dilemma first and upon seeing the second book, he wrote my name as per the name he saw on the book.
